about

Episteme was started in the fall of 2012 by Erin Tusa, Sam Schwartzbein, Oren Cantor, and Josh Kestenberg at the University of Guelph. Their goal was to explore spaces for creative music making by combing jazz improvisation techniques with forms from pop and other genres. With a lot of hard work, and coaching from Doctors Howard Spring and James Harley, as well as other notable musicians such as Ted Warren, The Episteme Ensemble has developed a unique genre blending sound that can fit equally well in a café, bar, or jazz club.

This album was recorded during live performances from 2012/2013.

All compositions written by Episteme except:

*Needle And The Damage Done/Heart Of Gold - Neil Young
*Crosstown Traffic - Jimi Hendrix

credits

released February 26, 2014

Episteme is:

Erin Tusa, a lifelong singer who has studied at both Humber and the Unviersity of Guelph, is equally at home singing Ella, Hendrix, or Verdi.

Sam Schwartzbein, the guitarist notable for teaching Pat Metheny how to play has graced this band with his velvet touch and searing solos.

Josh Kestenberg, rock solid on drums and he even knows music theory.

Oren Cantor plays bass.
